Microphone

The tuners, the pitch detector, the voice tools and the mic test ask for the microphone only when you press Start. The audio is analysed in your browser, on your device. It is never sent to us or anyone else. The tuners and voice tools do not record at all. The mic test can record a short clip so you can hear yourself back: the clip is kept only in that browser tab's memory, is never uploaded, and is deleted when you leave or reload the page (unless you choose to save it to your own device). Press Stop, or close the page, and the microphone is released. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

MIDI devices

On the piano page, Chrome, Edge and Opera may ask whether the page can use your MIDI devices. If you allow it, the notes from your keyboard are played by the page on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What is saved in your browser

Your settings (for example the theme, a tuning, the metronome tempo, quiz scores) are saved in your browser's local storage so they are there next time. They stay on your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Analytics (only if you accept)

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which tools and pages are used, so we know what to improve. It runs only if you press Accept in the cookie notice. Until then, and if you press Reject, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google. If you accept, Google sets its _ga cookies and receives the page address (without anything after a ? or #), the page you came from, your browser and device type, an approximate location and how you move between pages. We do not send what you play, sing, type or record, and in Google Analytics we do not use its advertising features or Google signals (the ads on this site are covered under Advertising below). Your choice is saved in your browser; Cookie settings, at the bottom of every page, lets you change it at any time, and choosing Reject later also deletes the Google Analytics cookies. Google's own policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, and we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across sites: a small script added by Cloudflare reports each page view and how fast the page loaded. Cloudflare's policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Like any host, Cloudflare also processes standard request data (such as IP address, time and page requested) to deliver and protect the site.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners, as third-party vendors, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices. How Google uses information from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they are not personalized.

The ads never use what you play, sing, type or record on this site: that stays on your device.
